Hawaii Representative Lauren Matsumoto Elected as 2026 CSG West Vice Chair

By CSG West

CSG West is proud to announce that Hawaii Representative Lauren Matsumoto was unanimously elected by the Executive Committee to serve as the organization’s vice chair beginning in 2026. Her election took place during the 78th CSG West Annual Meeting in Jackson, Wyoming. As an officer, she will help guide CSG West’s strategic direction and programs—ultimately succeeding to the position of chair in 2028. Elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 2012 at the age of 25, Representative Matsumoto has served in 13 legislative sessions and currently holds the position of Minority Leader, following previous leadership roles as Minority Whip and Minority Floor Leader. For more than a decade, she has also co-convened the Hawaii Women’s Legislative Caucus, a bipartisan group of women legislators in both chambers.

A dedicated member of the CSG family, Representative Matsumoto is a graduate of the Western Legislative Academy (Class of 2014), a Henry Toll Fellow (2015), and a CSG 20 Under 40 award recipient. She has also held a wide range of leadership roles with Women In Government, an affiliate of CSG, serving on its board for 10 years, including terms as Western Regional Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-Chair, and most recently as Executive Board Chair.

CSG West is honored to welcome a leader whose dedication to public service and collaboration reflects the best of our organization’s values. On behalf of the CSG West staff and the Executive Committee, we warmly congratulate Representative Matsumoto and look forward to working with her.
