Jessica Geary

Jessica Geary was appointed Executive Director of the Legislative Affairs Agency (LAA) in 2018 and has over twenty-three years of Agency experience, including seven years as the Finance Manager and a short stint as Deputy Executive Director before her appointment. The LAA is the nonpartisan service agency of the Alaska State Legislature, comprised of three divisions and eleven sections that are responsible for the administrative functions of the legislature, as well as security, technology and information, and legal and research services.

Ms. Geary is proud to serve the Alaska Legislature and has a strong appreciation for the important role of this unique branch of government. She enjoys working with people and assisting legislators and staff in support of the legislative process. Ms. Geary has a strong accounting background; she loves crunching numbers and ensuring budgets are appropriately spent so she has found this role to be a perfect fit.

Ms. Geary was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, and obtained her degree from the University of Alaska Southeast. Ms. Geary and her husband of twenty-one years, Jon, continue to make their home in Juneau where they own a successful construction business and rental properties. They have three children – their daughter Jayme (19) who is studying political science at University of Hawaii at Manoa, and two sons Justin (17) and Jordan (14), as well as an English Labrador Cooper and a Pug Neva. To recharge, she enjoys traveling, competing in destination races, reading, visiting the family’s remote cabin, fishing, hiking, and spending time with her family.
