Oregon Wildfire Policy in Focus: New CSG West Dashboard Update

By CSG West

CSG West has added new updates to its Forging a Resilient West dashboard, a daily updated hub for wildfire legislation tracking, bill comparisons, policy briefings, and tools supporting Western policymakers. The latest briefing highlights two wildfire-related bills signed into law during Oregon’s 2026 legislative session.

These include Senate Bill 1551, which promotes the use of fire-hardened building materials in residential properties—particularly in wildfire-prone areas—and House Bill 4077, which expands the definition of “rate recovery expenditures” for public utilities. The measure specifically adds self-insurance or captive insurance programs, if approved by the Public Utility Commission, as eligible expenditures that can be securitized through rate recovery bonds.
