Spotlight: Chair’s Forum at the 79th CSG West Annual Meeting

By CSG West

Each year, the CSG West Chair selects timely and pressing topics to explore during the CSG West Annual Meeting. These forums explore emerging issues, engage policymakers on state-specific approaches, and highlight innovative strategies that enhance legislation and drive regional outcomes.

Under the leadership of the 2026 CSG West Chair, Utah Senator Todd Weiler, we’re excited to announce the first Chair’s Forum of the 2026 CSG West Annual Meeting, which will convene July 7-10 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Safe at Home: Strategies to Prevent Child Abuse and Neglect

Wednesday, July 8
8:30 AM-10:00 AM

Join Casey Family Programs and other stakeholders in an interactive discussion with legislators to learn from research and data about promising policy strategies that keep children safely at home with their families and improve outcomes for children and families across the West.

Participants will explore approaches that prioritize and ensure child safety, increase kin-first placements, and identify strategies to ensure timely permanency for children and youth in care. Additionally, participants will consider how best to partner with community, business, philanthropy, and faith-based organizations to support and strengthen families so that children can remain safety at home.

More Chair’s Forums, session previews, and Legislative Learning Labs will be announced soon!
