Assemblywoman Daniele Monroe-Moreno was born in Tucson, Arizona moving to Nevada over 25 years ago. Daniele has called District 1 home almost the entire time she has lived in Nevada and where she began her life journey with her better half. Together she and her husband Gary have three beautifully accomplished daughters, two amazingly talented sons, seven adorable grandchildren, two dogs and various grandpets. Her hobbies include gardening, entertaining, event planning, cooking, volunteering and spoiling the grandbabies.

The residents of Nevada’s Assembly District #1 first elected Daniele to represent them in 2016. Today, she proudly serves them as the Assistant Majority Leader. She is a history maker, being the first African American Female to ever hold a leadership position in the Nevada State Assembly and is the current Chair of the Nevada Black Legislative Caucus. In addition to her leadership duties, she is the Chair of the Committee on Growth & Infrastructure, Vice-Chair of the Assembly Ways & Means Committee, and a member of Legislative Operations & Elections committee, previously serving on Government Affairs, and Transportation committees.

Recently Ms. Monroe-Moreno was appointed to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board and the Advisory Board on Maternal & Child Health. Her interim committee responsibilities include serving as Chair of the Energy Committee, Industrial Programs and Special License Plate Committee’s, Vice-Chair of Child Welfare & Juvenile Justice, a member of the Interim Finance Committee, and the Committee to Consult with the Director. During the 2017-2018 Interim she Chaired the Legislative Committee on Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice, and served as a member on the Committee on Industrial Programs, the Commission on Special License Plates, the Nevada State Council for Interstate Juvenile Supervision, the Committee to Consult with the Director, the Advisory Committee for a Veterans’ Cemetery in So. Nevada, and an Alternate on the Legislative Commission.

Daniele is the proud recipient of the 2020 African American Trailblazer Community Activism Politics Award, Emerge America’s 2017 Ambition to Action Awardee, a Council of State Government’s Western Legislative Academy graduate & Class President. In 2018 she was honored to be accepted and receive national recognition as a New Deal Leader member.

Assemblywoman Monroe-Moreno is a retired North Las Vegas Police Department Corrections Officer and a proud member of the NLV Police Officers Association. Daniele currently serves as Secretary of Gentlemen by Choice Executive Board; a youth mentoring organization. She previously served as the Vice-Chair of the Clark County Economic Opportunity Board, the North Las Vegas Steering Committee, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Nevada Youth Alliance, “The Pointe” After School Youth Mentoring Program, Commissioner on the Clark County School District’s Attendance and Zoning Advisory Commission, Lt. Governor of Optimist International—Pacific Southeast District, member of the North Las Vegas Justice Court’s Community Courts program. She worships at Grace Point Church-Ann Rd., is a 2009 Emerge Nevada graduate, and a member of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, Women in Government, and the Women Legislator’s Lobby. In her retirement she continues mentoring and inspiring young people in her community Nurturing the Nevada Pipeline!
