Born and raised in Nome, Alaska, Löki (she/her – pronounced Lew-key) is a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage and holds a master’s degree in rural development from the University of Alaska Fairbanks Peace Corps Master’s International Program (Azerbaijan 2008-2011). She’s a PhD student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks where she studies hyper local education systems. For over a decade, Löki served her community by working for Alaskan nonprofits as a certified fundraiser. In 2019, Löki joined the office of Alaska State Senate Minority Leader Tom Begich as a legislative aide. In 2022, Löki was elected to the Alaska State Senate where she currently serves as the Chair of the Senate Education Committee. She also serves on policy committees for transportation, judiciary, health and social services, and legislative ethics along with several budget subcommittees. Löki sits on the Board of Directors for the Anchorage Concert Association and she annually organizes a community-wide block party for her neighbors. Löki is a dedicated bicycle commuter (even in the winter), co-hosts a podcast about Alaska politics, and loves to preserve her spouse’s harvest with her trusty All-American pressure canner.
