Jason Frierson

Jason’s life experiences reflect his unquestionable commitment to public service and a passion for improving the state of the community. From volunteering with youth groups to prosecuting white collar criminals, Jason’s consistent dedication to serving the public has been unwavering.

The youngest of two sons, Jason was born and raised in a tough neighborhood where he overcame numerous challenges to go to college at the University of Nevada, Reno. It was at that time in 1988 that he made Nevada his home. While competing in collegiate football, Jason made time to stay involved in the community, volunteering with youth groups. He also participated in the Americorps program, working with at-risk youth at a local school to train kids on violence prevention.

Before finishing college, Jason became student body president at UNR. Recognizing the value of education, He became a faculty member at UNR attending college fairs throughout Nevada in order to counsel parents and students about their decisions regarding college. During this time, he also volunteered at the local Boys and Girls Club.

Jason then joined the charter class at the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law, and looked after his aging grandparents in Las Vegas. While at UNLV, he continued working in the community by participating in the law school’s Juvenile Justice Clinic. Prior to completing his law studies, Jason again found his place in a leadership role when he was elected student body president of the law school.

A member of the first graduating class at Boyd Law School in 2001, Jason was awarded the Barbara Buckley Community Service Award for his commitment to leadership and community service. After graduating, he clerked for the Honorable Justice Myron E. Leavitt at the Nevada Supreme Court.

After briefly working in private civil practice, Jason became a Deputy Attorney General where he prosecuted white collar criminals. In that role, he helped recover hundreds of thousands of dollars on behalf of Nevada’s most vulnerable, including senior citizens who were taken advantage of financially. Jason also served on the Nevada Cybercrimes Task Force, working with other state and federal law enforcement agencies to combat crime across the internet. During his time as a prosecutor, Jason also volunteered at a local elementary school where he helped students work on their reading skills. Jason next worked as a Deputy Public Defender, defending the Constitution and protecting the rights of the accused by ensuring that the process was fair. For over three years, Jason has worked most recently as a Deputy District Attorney, advocating in Family Court to make sure that abused and neglected children in Clark County are given a chance at a safe childhood and upbringing.

Throughout his years working as an attorney, Jason has continued his involvement with youth in the community, working as a football official with local high school and youth football programs. He has also participated as a judge at mock trial programs for elementary and high school programs across Clark County.
