Border Legislative Academy (BLA)
Border Legislative Academy (BLA)
Promoting Binational Leadership
The border region presents an array of governing complexities for state legislators on both sides of the U.S-Mexico border. To cultivate leadership in the border region, the Border Legislative Academy (BLA) offers a multi-day program focused on honing legislative skills through informational sessions and professional development training. By bringing together legislators from the U.S. and Mexico border states, the program promotes cooperative learning and relationship building to strengthen both leadership and legislative institutions.
For questions about the program, please contact Martha Castañeda, Director of Policy & International Programs.
Who Attends?
Legislators from both U.S. and Mexican border states are invited to apply for admission to the program. Preference will be given to border state legislators within their first four years of cumulative service, but participation is not limited to this qualification.
Program Sponsorship
BLA is supported through the generous contributions of private sector partners. For information on sponsor opportunities, please contact Edgar Ruiz, CSG West Director.
